San Francisco Crypto Wrench Attack Victim Loses $11M to Fake Delivery Driver
A brazen daylight robbery in San Francisco resulted in the theft of $11 million in cryptocurrency. The suspect, disguised as a delivery driver, gained entry to a home on Dorland Street by posing as a courier with a package for "Joshua." Once inside, the assailant brandished a gun, bound the victim with duct tape, and forced access to a crypto wallet.
The thief escaped with the digital assets, along with the victim's cellphone and laptop. No physical injuries were reported. Security footage, shared by Y Combinator CEO Garry Tan, shows the suspect in dark clothing, sunglasses, and gloves, deliberately obscuring his face from the camera.
San Francisco Police Department is actively investigating the incident. The case highlights the risks faced by high-net-worth individuals in the crypto space, where physical security breaches can lead to significant financial losses.
